Covenant Community - Board Member 2007 - present:
I am proud to serve on the Board of Covenant Community. Covenant is a 14-bed long-term residential drug and alcohol treatment center on the campus of All Saints Episcopal Church. As a board member, I help with a variety of issues including strategic planning, staffing issues and fundraising. I am honored to be a part of this program.
Ironman for All Saints 2008
In November 2008, I raised approximately $5,000.00 by completing a full Ironman Triathlon (2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike and 26.2-mile run) to raise money for Covenant Community. I made it in just over 13 hours.
Covenant Community Feed the Hungry at Thanksgiving
Every year at Thanksgiving, I take part in preparing and feeding roughly 600 hungry people as part of the Covenant Community Feed the Hungry Thanksgiving meal. My staff gets a paid volunteer day. This year we started early by helping the men purchase the food, preparing and serving folks a true homemade meal.
Pro Bono Counsel, Covenant Community
Since 1999, I have served as Pro Bono Counsel for the Men of Covenant Community. As long as they remain sober, and committed to their sobriety, the Men know they do not have to worry about finding a lawyer to help them make amends and to represent them on past legal issues. If they are sober, I will represent them for free.
As part of my ongoing support of Covenant Community, I offered to build their website for them. The site gives Covenant the ability to show potential donors all the amazing things that Covenant accomplishes. To see the website I designed for them, or to learn more about Covenant Community, click here.
F Warrior Board Member (2007 - 2009) and Instructor (2002 - present) The Trial Lawyer's College - DuBois, Wyo.
In 2001 I was selected as one of two instructors from the State of Georgia to teach lawyers trial skills and how to discover and communicate their client's story to the jury. In my role as a staff member, I teach approximately 20 days a year at seminars throughout the U.S. It is one of my very favorite things I do as a lawyer.
St. Mark Breakfast Club "Soup Kitchen" - 2007 - present
Although I'm not a member of St. Mark, I help prepare breakfast for approximately sixty men once a month as part of St. Mark's ministry to the homeless. It is humbling and reminds me how many people struggle and how blessed I am.
