A few weeks ago, we posted about several different support groups that exist for those suffering from reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD), also known as complex regional pain syndrome type 1, a condition that causes severe, chronic pain and has no known cure. Recently, we learned of another, Hope Over Pain, that may be of use to those seeking communal support for coping with RSD.
Hope Over Pain is a small non-profit staffed entirely by volunteers who either suffer from CRPS or have a loved one who does. Unlike many RSD-related sites online that appear to be somewhat inactive, Hope Over Pain is alive with activity and news, thereby giving its members a thriving community with which to share both their difficulties and their triumphs. The organization’s activities include “promoting public and professional awareness and education” and “providing programs and services to empower people with chronic and intractable pain conditions and their families” with the aim of “[reducing] and [eliminating] barriers preventing patients with chronic and intractable pain conditions.”
Hope Over Pain’s website includes helpful information about various panic conditions, including CRPS, descriptions of the latest research on the condition, fundraising options, and resources on how to seek treatment and help for the condition.
