What to Expect

Case Evaluation:

The Tyrone Law Firm has represented clients in Fulton, Dekalb, Gwinnett, Henry, Clayton, Forsyth, Hall, Bartow, Cherokee, Cobb, Rockdale, and other counties throughout Georgia. We will meet with you initially in person and review your case for free. Because the facts of every case are different, we will need to evaluate the elements of your particular situation, and will then be able to tell you if you have a legal right to sue for damages.

If, after the initial consultation, we determine that you do have a case, we will then discuss an agreement for our firm to represent you. Having this agreement in place allows us to act as legal counsel on your behalf in court. It is also at this stage that legal fees are discussed. The Tyrone Law Firm handles all personal injury cases on an contingency fee basis. What this means is that all legal fees will be paid from a percentage of the monetary damages awarded at the end of your lawsuit. We will collect our fees once your case is settled. No money will be due from you up front. If no money is awarded, then you owe us nothing.

Investigation:

After you have retained us to act on your behalf as your legal representation, we will begin the next phase of the process, which is a detailed investigation of your case. This will include things such as obtaining and reviewing police reports, obtaining witness statements, and interviewing any eyewitnesses who may have seen the event transpire. We will also collect any physical evidence that may exist, and where needed, hire experts to review and analyze such evidence. There may be certain items we will ask you as the client to obtain for us, such as your medical records and medical bills resulting from your injuries.

Litigation:

The next phase of the process is the litigation phase. Sometimes the opposing party, in light of certain evidence against them, may be willing to settle out of court. If this is the case, we will prepare a settlement agreement for signature and execution by the Defendant. You will be paid monetary damages and this will effectively end your lawsuit.

However, if agreement cannot be reached by all parties, we will then proceed with the steps to move your case to trial. One question that attorneys are frequently asked is how long does it take for a case to get to trial. There is no simple answer to this question, because every case and every judge’s courtroom is different. In any event, there is a great deal of preparation and expense that goes into taking a case to trial.
