Here at Tyrone Law Firm, we do everything possible to help families who have children with special needs. In fact, we have dedicated members of our staff who have had to navigate a path for their own children and are available to assist families. If you are a parent with a child that has cerebral palsy or hypoxic brain injury, we hope these posts will bring new resources to you and your family.

One of the hardest things to do after giving birth is to leave your baby at the hospital, in the NICU. Many parents are left with this unwanted experience. Babies who are born early thrive from skin to skin contact and interaction with others.

When left with leaving her baby in the NICU, a mother wanted to create something that would continue to provide comfort for her son, Zachary. Dr. Yamil Jackson used a gardening glove filled with beads to mimic the hand of a person and left it with her son. Sleeping with the glove prior to Zachary using it, helped with the scent, which would allow him to continue to bond even though he was in the NICU and she had to go home.

Later, Jackson, was asked to make more of these gloves to be used in the NICU. She then invented the Zacky. This is now used to help preemies find comfort when they have to stay in the NICU without their parents. This invention could also be helpful for babies that suffer from a birth injury.
